The approach

"Hidden Faces" is the result of an introspective work combining emotions and distant reminiscences, united around a central theme: when the eyes are hidden, the body expresses itself. The power of gesture invades the visual space, translating a profound language. This project is thus anchored in emotion and distant memories.

The author is fascinated by the unknown and the thrill of rediscovery. He enjoys delving into his photographic archives, unearthing forgotten, sometimes neglected, images, as dictated by the demands of a project or the expectations of another era. This approach is a constant source of inspiration for him.

As time passes, aesthetic standards evolve, intentions change. The photographer enjoys the act of returning to his original shots, revisiting image sequences, and recalling the model's state of mind during the session. This process nourishes his artistic approach, offering him the opportunity to reevaluate and deepen his work. His aesthetic perspective evolves: he now observes the past through a new lens.

The real challenge of this archive dive lies in the act of reconsidering a project with a renewed vision. Initial choices are often called into question. An image, once considered remarkable, may no longer be so, while certain gems, overlooked at the time, emerge with new clarity and unsuspected relevance.

This constant journey between discovery and reevaluation deeply inspires the author. He finds pleasure in returning to his past photographs, reinterpreting them, while reconnecting with the essence of the original photo sessions, thus enriching his artistic expression.

A thematic project

The “Hidden Faces” project offers a coherent and captivating visual exploration.

In any artistic endeavor, it is essential that each image be both evocative and relevant, carrying within it a singular force. Each shot must convey a unique personality and transmit an emotion linked to the central theme.

This approach prompted the author to revisit photographs already published and subjected to external judgment. Exploring the theme of hidden faces and the expressive power of the body, he delves into his archives to select the most representative images.

This approach contrasts with the initial selection, which is often influenced by the requirements of a project or deliverable. In the early stages of creation, the relationship with the model, the inspiration of the moment, spontaneity, light, and the quality of the composition play decisive roles. However, in this rereading process, these original creative elements are set aside. The challenge is to carry out a reinterpretation: revisiting the archives, ignoring previous choices, and taking a fresh look at the material to feed this new collection.

"Hidden Faces" stands out for its diversity of images, the finesse of its production, and its emotionally driven approach. Faces are hidden to allow the body to fully express itself, transporting the viewer into a flood of emotions.

Elegance is undoubtedly the first impression one gets when viewing these photographs. The models are depicted with a timelessness and refinement reminiscent of classical Greek sculptures. The careful lighting and precise composition accentuate this sense of beauty and grace.

These photographs are visually powerful. The models, like ancient statues, project an impression of majesty and splendor. By concealing the faces, the photographer introduces a dimension of mystery, forcing the viewer to focus on the body language and establish a deeper, more intimate connection with the subject.
