There is an unexplored territory in every face. The Regard series was born from this conviction: that photography, when it relinquishes control, becomes listening.

Claude Gauthier doesn't impose a pose. He creates the conditions for a presence: soft, directional lighting, silence on set, time given to the subject to forget the camera. It is in this open space, between direction and surrender, that what the image seeks emerges: an inhabited gaze, a fraction of a second where the inner self rises to the surface.
