Claude Gauthier, Art Prints
The provocative human in urban space is a figure who, through his attitude or mere presence, questions established norms, incites reflection, and often pushes for social and cultural transformation. This person uses public space as a stage to express innovative, subversive or controversial ideas.

Urban life, the human being in the city
Montreal is a city that tells its story in the streets. Its neighborhoods—the Plateau, Rosemont, Saint-Henri, Mile End, Hochelaga—are vibrant stages where silent dramas, moments of grace, and unintentional provocations unfold daily. It is in this public space, between concrete and shifting light, that this series takes root.
The approach is one of patient observation. There is no imposed staging, but a discreet presence that waits for the moment when an individual, through their attitude, their gaze, or their mere presence within the frame, reveals a social tension or an unexpected beauty. The provocative human being, the one who disrupts the visual order of the street, who occupies space differently, is at the heart of each image.
Montreal's seasons dictate their own aesthetic: the low-angled light of January on the snow, the sharp shadows of July, the wet reflections of autumn. Each outing is a negotiation with light, weather, and chance. Urban exploration scenes, spontaneous interactions, and constructed compositions coexist in this series, linked by a single question: what does the city reveal about those who inhabit it?
